We base our evaluations on the study documentation provided and check authenticity as far as is possible.
Our evaluations are based on submitted study documents which show that the qualification has been completed. Documents can be uploaded or sent by regular post.
Our method for evaluating foreign qualifications follows this process:
1. Complete application
We check that all documentation has been sent to us. Processing can only begin once the application is complete. Please make sure you upload/send us your documents as soon as possible. Check for Educational Evaluations in US at UT Evaluators
2. Recognised school or institution
For a qualification to be approved, the school or higher education institution (HEI) that issued it must be recognised by the country in which it is based. This is checked though contacts with the authorities in the relevant country.
3. Checks on authenticity
As far as possible, we check document and HEI authenticity. This may involve checking documents for:
A. technical faults
B. design errors
C. logical faults
D. factual faults
If necessary, we may contact authorities or the HEI that is said to have issued the document. Some originals contain security details that can be seen with the right equipment. Other documents are included in verification systems in various national registers. These checks may require a fee.

Sweden has been performing evaluations since the 1980s. UHR (ENIC-NARIC Sweden) and its predecessors have built up a large library of reference material from previous cases. We also cooperate with offices that have similar tasks in many different countries.
4. Comparing qualifications
UHR (ENIC-NARIC Sweden) uses a number of criteria during the evaluation, which is the basis for recognising a foreign qualification. The most important criteria are:
A. the purpose of the qualification (for example if it is vocational or academic)
B. its level or place in the foreign education system (for example whether it provides admission to higher education or is at university level)
C. the scope of the qualification (how long you have studied)
D. whether it is significantly different from a Swedish qualification.
5. Recognition statement
In the statement, we describe the foreign qualification: where you studied, what degree you have, how long you studied, and compare it to a Swedish qualification.
If our assessment is that relevant parts are missing or if, for some reason, we are unable to issue a statement on your qualifications, you will receive a letter instead. In the letter, we explain our decision and, if possible, refer you to other public authorities and organisations.
